OCTOBER 7 & 8, 2025 – WINNIPEG, MANITOBA
Manitoba Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Research Meeting
Welcome
We are pleased to announce that the Manitoba CLL Clinical Care, Education and Translational Research Unit (3CETRU), will host a local meeting this year at the Inn at the Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 7 & 8, 2025.
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) is the most prevalent lymphoproliferative disorder in the Western World. Rapid and significant progress has been made in the last decade in the treatment of CLL and understanding of disease biology, leading to marked improvements in survival. During this period of progress, many Canadian academic centres have developed focused research in CLL. Canada is particularly well placed for CLL research as the majority of patients are followed and treated in or near academic centres, making the collection of patient data and samples more feasible than in many other countries.
The Manitoba CLL Research Meeting has been created to provide a forum for the sharing of CLL research and the development of research collaborations and will feature both a patient information session and patient advisory meeting, as part of the two day conference.
In the past the CLL Research Meeting has been particularly successful due to a relatively small attendance from focused CLL researchers that results in high level discussion and valuable feedback after each presentation. This includes members of our scientific and epidemiologic research teams and clinical care teams. Our secondary goal is to help in the development of research careers of junior investigators, and we encourage participation of undergraduate and graduate students, clinical residents and post-doctoral fellows. In this venue they have safe space to present and receive feedback on their research from clinical and scientific leaders but most importantly our patient advisory council.
For 2025, we will be bringing together Manitoba based CLL experts and patients. We anticipate approximately 70 in-person attendees plus virtual attendance. We will have a series of short presentations for patients and a panel discussion. This will be followed by a 3 Min thesis type event where researchers will share their research with patients in an accessible manner. This meeting sets the ideal environment for local experts to come together and network on the future of research of CLL in Canada in partnership with Patients.
We hope you can join us!
Sincerely,
